SRV’s ‘Charley’

Not a true Stratocaster, ‘Charley’ is a Strat-style guitar assembled from spare parts by the owner of Charley’s Guitar Shop, Charley Wirz.
It’s hard enough to know the details of Stevie’s Strats when they began their career as Fender stock Strats… but since this guitar was cobbled together from spare parts in the first place, take all of this information with a grain of salt (a wedge of lime & a shot of tequila.)
Charley was obviously named after Charley Wirz, but there is just something wrong about refering to a guitar as ‘he,’ so we’ll just assume for our purposes that Charley is short for ‘Charlene’ or something similar.
She had an alder body, a hard-tail bridge, and a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard.
